Medical care for ALL!

Most Cameroonians cannot afford an examination at the doctor's or even in hospital. We therefore treat them in our health centre for a very small fee.

We started our first outpatient treatment programme in October 2009. In the meantime, thanks to generous donations of medical equipment - mainly from the Medicor company - we have been able to set up a small infirmary with 1 X-ray machine and 4 beds. It is looked after by 2 nurses and a registered doctor visits regularly.

We renovated and refurbished a vacant building in Bafia ourselves in order to install and commission the first ultrasound machine within a radius of 120 kilometres. A small sensation and the joy among the population was great. Now pregnant women, for example, can also be examined free of charge. The Cameroonian doctors and medical technicians are also very interested and are all willing to contribute or learn about the latest technology free of charge.

Financial resources, medical equipment - such as ultrasound and mammography systems - and local educational work on prevention issues, e.g. breast cancer - these are the things we need most right now!

Healthcare that reaches people where they are

Our health center doesn’t only provide care on-site – we also bring medical help directly to those in need, through home visits.

In rural areas, it’s not uncommon for a patient to miss a follow-up appointment – not out of unwillingness, but simply because their health or mobility no longer allows them to return. That’s why we carry out targeted home visits.

These visits are crucial – not only medically, but also on a human level. They help us maintain contact, ensure continuity of care, and keep our focus on those most at risk.

When orphaned children are found in remote villages, home visits are often the first step in providing immediate medical assistance – directly and without delay.
